Did you know that it's now possible for you to send a fax right from your desktop? Faxing online has a lot of advantages when you compare it to the way that faxing was done in the past. It costs you much less, there is no machine that can break down, keeping you from faxing, and it is easy to do. You don't have to wait until you get to work to send faxes anymore, either. You can access online fax from virtually anywhere, if your computer is with you. You can fax to email and receive faxes online, too. Signing up is easy, but there are a few things you should look for in a service before you choose one. If you're wanting to fax occasionally from home, you won't need a very large or expensive plan. If you want a plan for your business, you probably want a larger plan that gives you a fax number or fax numbers for your business. Many types of service plans are available.

Does the service give you a number so that you can receive a fax? This is important, especially if you want to use online fax for your business. Getting your own online fax number is something that many services now include as part of their service, without an additional fee. You can also opt to get more numbers, so that everyone you work with can have their own, or so that different fax numbers can send faxes to different departments in your building. Getting more numbers might cost extra, but it's still a lot cheaper than getting everyone at work their own number from your local phone company. Having a special fax line just isn't necessary anymore, since you can now obtain these virtual numbers that will allow you to receive your faxes using an interface on the internet rather than a fax machine.

The price is another important factor, of course, but maybe not as important as you think. Most online faxing services will offer you similar packages for similar prices. Since sending faxes online is a lot less expensive, they are able to give you much cheaper rates than you might have initially expected. You can usually send quite a few faxes each week or month for a low, flat monthly rate. Any documents that you send domestically are usually billed for the same rate, unlike with dedicated fax lines, where you will be charged more if a call is long-distance.

What other features are offered by the company, and how are the faxes sent? Some companies have you use fax to email, which uses the email account you have to send a fax to a specially formatted number so that it reaches the intended recipient's fax machine. Some will use a web interface on their website. Either way, it is usually quite easy to learn how to use the service, and the service provider will provide instructions on how to get started.
